Description
13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head with
angular-shaped slender face and elongated
throat,blue glass sleep eyes,painted lashes,mohair
lashes,one-stroke brows,accented
nostrils,slightly-rounded nose tip,closed mouth
with accented lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair
wig,composition and wooden fully-jointed lady body
with slender torso,elongated arms and legs,feet
posed for high heels. Condition: generally
excellent. Marks: 1468 S&H 2. Comments: from the
series of flapper-bodied dolls created by Simon
and Halbig for Dressel (see lot 182 for another
example),circa 1915; the dolls were offered in
high-fashion flapper garb or as 18th century-style
ladies which was a decorative trend at the time.
Value Points: the rare doll with beautiful
expression and body has original body and is
wearing a superb antique silk costume of the
18th-century style.
