9" (23 cm.) All-wooden doll with painted black
hair and painted facial features,chip-carved
nose,crudely-defined body with dowel jointing at
shoulders,elbows,hips and knees. Condition:
generally excellent. Comments: Germany,circa
1875,costumed and presented for the English
market. Value Points: the peddler doll wears her
original folklore costume of Wales including tall
hat and red cape,and carries a basket of toy and
tinker items including three wooden articulated dolls.
