Description
19" (48 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered wooden
platform is a bisque-headed Chinese lady with
amber-tinted complexion,narrow brown glass
eyes, brown brush-stroked brows and long curly
lashes, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with very full
outlined lips,pierced ears,brunette mohair wig
with hair ornaments, cork pate, carton torso and
legs,amber-tinted bisque forearms,wearing
elaborate silk traditional costume and holding a
painted wooden tea service. When wound, she turns
her head from side to side, then nods toward the
service, moving the tray close to the pot which she
lifts and elegantly "pours",while music plays.
Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Leopold
Lambert,circa 1890,with unique bisque head
commissioned from Emile Jumeau and used for this
automaton model only, never appearing on another
doll or another automaton. Value Points: rare
luxury model,with realistic and graceful
movement, and exquisite sculpting and painting of face.
