Description
19" (48 cm.) Bisque socket head depicting a
startled young girl with sculpted short brown
curly hair,intaglio-sculpted painted blue
side-glancing eyes with prominent black
pupils,black and incised upper eyeliner,white
eyedots,single-stroke brows,accented nostrils of
tiny rounded nose,closed mouth modeled as though
open with "O" shaped lips,composition and wooden
ball-jointed body,nicely costumed. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: Fulper (in vertical
scroll) CMU (in triangle) 18. Comments:
Fulper,circa 1918. The New Jersey porcelain
dinnerware firm added doll production to their
line for a short period during the WWI embargo
period on German products. Value Points: very rare
model from that firm,with outstanding detail of
sculpted hair and eye crinkles,fine quality of
bisque and painting.
