Description
42" (107 cm.) A cast metal fire screen has an
elaborate four-legged pedestal base supporting an
oval frame with scroll frame crest,and is finished
in a rich gold leaf. The frame encloses an oval
embroidered canvas with a design of wheat and wild
flowers,and which can be pivoted this way or that
to shield a person from fireplace heat. The oval
fire screen was a unique design of Maison
Huret,always created with distinctive spiral twist
of the legs,pedestal and frame. Excellent
condition. French,Maison Huret,circa 1860,very rare.
