1912,their portrait model of Chinese baby; the
sculpture was unique to this doll model only. It
is known that the luxury store,Gump's of San
Francisco that specialized in Asian
art, commissioned the model and created luxury
authentic costumes in its own studios. This
particular example was acquired about 1915 by
Florence Brown of Hillsboro,California who
designed lamp shades for Gump's; in the 1940s she
gave the doll to her niece Maxine Brown and it has
been passed down through the family to this very
date. Value Points: a beautiful model of the
doll,with family provenance,in pristine unplayed
with condition, wearing its superb original Gump's
silk costume including
undergarments,shirt,pants,slippers,and very
elaborate headdress ornamented with
pearls,beads,wooden tassels,and mirrors.
