Description
40"w. x 37"h. x 28"d. including front stairs. The
three-story grand-sized villa is highlighted by a
balustrade second floor balcony that runs the
entire width of the second floor and is supported
in the arched center by four tall columns that
center the first floor entry. The house has
windows at the front only,with classic Gottschalk
cardboard panes; the first floor center windows
are floor to ceiling with 24 panes each. A
three-sided set of stairs offers an elegant
entrance,and the house has red faux-shingles and a
round gable front attic room. Inside are five
rooms plus an entry hall and bathroom,and a
stairway to the second floor. Hinged doors offer
access to each room and have Gottschalk door
handles. The house has original wall and floor
lithographed paper throughout. There is some
original furniture inside. Fair/good
condition,some pieces of trim are missing,some
roughness to original exterior and interior
finishes,the house has all original papers and
finishes,albeit worn. The house,presented as a
Mediterranean Villa was offered in the Gottschalk
catalog of 1928; a photograph of the house
appeared in their catalog of that year.
