Description
13" (33 cm.) Paper mache socket head,brown enamel
eyes,lightly-painted lashes and brows,accented
nostrils,closed mouth,black human hair in bobbed
cut,paper mache shoulder plate,lower torso and
lower arms and legs,muslin upper arms and
legs,bellows crier. Condition: generally
excellent. Marks: (see photo). Comments:
Japanese,the classic Ichimatsu doll was the
inspiration for the European child doll that
gained favor in the 1880s and continued into the
20th century when this doll was made. Value
Points: the doll owns three hand-stitched silk and
cotton kimonos in beautiful original state.
