Description
7" (18 cm.) A paper mache figure of gentleman with
top-hat,dressed with suit,bow-tie and shoes with
spats has spring-attached head designed to "nod"
when the lid of the candy box is lifted,he holds a
hat,an umbrella and ribbon trims in his hands and
has a peddler sack on his back. The peddler is
mounted upon the lid of a candy box which has
original amusing paper message around the
sides,"Vieux Chapeaux! Vieux Habits! Vieux
Galons!". Excellent condition. French,early 19th
century. An amusing and rare early candy or
trinket box disguised as a peddler of lady's notions.
