14" (36 cm.) Pink-tinted porcelain shoulder
head,cobalt blue glass inset eyes,dark
eyeliner,painted lashes,lightly-feathered
brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth,nicely
blushed cheeks,un-pierced ears,mohair wig on cork
pate,plump French poupee body with gusset-jointing
at hips,shapely waist,porcelain arms to above the
elbows,porcelain legs to above the knees.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Brevete
D.D. SGDG (green stamp on torso). Comments:
Duval-Denis,who acquired the Blampoix doll firm
for two years only,1861-1862,after which it was
re-acquired to Blampoix,(see The Encyclopedia of
French Dolls by Theimer). Value Points: rarely
found doll of beautiful quality with rare
porcelain legs and arms,preserved in her early
labeled doll trunk from the doll shop of
Tempier,Boulevard des Italiens,along with an
extensive trousseau comprising three fine early
ensembles,two early dresses,coiffe,early leather
shoes and woolen stockings,and various other
hoops,petticoats,bonnets,and other items of
clothing; few examples of signed Duval-Denis
poupees are known to exist.
