Description
7" (18 cm.) h. golfer. 34" club. A tapered wooden golf club with hidden internal mechanism
that operates by a lever near the handle of the club,has a carved wooden golfer attached to
the base; the golfer has carved facial features,golfing cap and classic costume,with richly
painted details. The head is swivel-jointed and attaches to a metal shoulder form with
attached metal arms that are clasping a miniature golf club. When the lever is pushed and
released,the golfer swings his miniature golf club to and fro. Condition: generally excellent.
Marks: Manufactured by the A. Schoenhut Co. Philadelphia,Pa. Pat. USA March,14,1922.
Comments: Schoenhut,the novelty mechanical golfer was made by the firm from 1922-
1926,in both male and female versions. Value Points: rarely found Schoenhut novelty with
ingenious mechanism,fine original painted finish.
