15" (38 cm.) head circumference. 17" length. Solid domed bisque head with flanged neck,painted brown baby hair with defined forelock,tinted brown brows,large blue glass sleep eyes,very plump cheeks and chin,rounded upturned nose,closed mouth with prominent downcast lips,muslin body,composition hands and lower legs,antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Babykins Copr. by Grace S. Putnam Made in Germany 1435 50. Comments: A 1931 trademark for "Babykins" was applied for by George Borgfeldt for the Grace S. Putnam design; apparently production was very limited as very few examples are known to exist. This is the first example ever offered by Theriault̴s in 40 years. Value Points: extremely rare doll with wonderfully characterized features,beautiful complexion and painting,designed by the known American artist and created in Germany.
