Description
12" (30 cm.) h. 11"l. All-bisque figure depicts a smiling young boy who appears to have tried (unsuccessfully!) to hide himself inside his Papa̴s shoe and now is busily lacing up the shoe. The boy has deeply sculpted blonde hair with forelock curl, downcast intaglio eyes with heavy eyelids, feathered brows, closed mouth with beaded upper teeth, dimpled cheeks, and is wearing a sculpted white smock with ruffled edges and blue bow,and his arms are held as though trying to lace the green and brown saddle shoe which has a hole in its toe from which the boy̴s feet are peeking out. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Heubach (sunburst mark). Comments: Gebruder Heubach, circa 1910. ex-Lydia Richter collection. Value Points: a very rare extraordinary size with outstanding sculpting, perfectly preserved, portraying a delightful and charming activity.
