Description
8" (20 cm.) Porcelain half doll of adult lady with sculpted grey hair in elaborate coiffure of the
late 18th-century style,topped by an elaborate bonnet with purple feathers and a border of pink
roses,painted facial features,extended arms,porcelain lower legs with blue painted shoes. The
doll is posed upon a lace-covered silk box as though seated,one foot resting upon a
cushion,and a porcelain dog at her side,wearing lace-trimmed blue silk gown and holding a
small bouquet of flowers. Excellent condition. The box bottom is marked "made in France",and
the German half doll lady was presented as a decoration for a luxury French candy box (opens
from the base). Circa 1915. $700/900
