Description
15" (38 cm.) The all-bisque figure depicts a young dimpled-faced lad posed against a bisque "snow"-covered rocky ledge,as though out for a winter stroll. He has short blonde sculpted hair peeking from the rim of a blue sailor cap that is pushed back behind his sculpted ears, deeply intaglio blue eyes, painted features, closed mouth with smiling expression,deeply-sculpted dimples, and has sculpted navy-blue double-breasted sailor jacket, brown trousers, leggings, and black-tipped grey shoes. His hands are tucked in his jacket pockets, and under each arm he holds a brown pug pup with shaded dark brown coloring and ears, and sorrowful eyes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Heubach (sunburst mark) Made in Germany (red stamp). Comments: Gebruder Heubach, circa 1910,from the firm̴s pet series. Value Points: outstanding sculpting enhanced by fine large size; the detail of sculpting on his face is exceptional, and the sculpting extends all around the back which includes the backside of the two curly-tailed pugs, one quite comfortable in his master̴s arms, and the other trying to squirm away.
