10" (25 cm.) Posed upon a wooden platform with unusual lithographed-paper scene of two
playful carnival figures,is a bisque-headed doll with blue glass eyes,painted features,slightly-
parted lips,brunette mohair wig,block wooden torso,wooden or paper mache lower limbs with
painted shoes and stockings,and wearing original costume. The boy has an intricately-woven
string between his outstretched hands,and when the handle is turned,he quickly turns his head
from side to side,and moves arms as though continuing the "cat̴s cradle" game. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: 4/0. Comments: late 19th century,probably French. Value Points:
charming vignette scene and action of a classic child̴s game,luxury detail of colorful paper
covers.
