Description
20" (51 cm.) An ebonized wooden platform disguises a two-tune music box which is activated
by pull strings and knobs at the back,and displays an elegant French marriage arrangement with
gilded and ormolu frame including dove with wreath,oak leaf enclosed mirror,oval frames for
photographs or drawings,all enclosing a burgundy velvet cushion with metallic thread trim and
tassels upon which is resting a wax orange blossom bridal coronet. The arrangement is enclosed
within a rare four-sided glass dome. Condition: generally excellent,music functions well. Marks:
(paper music label on underside lists two tunes). Comments: French,circa 1885,the traditional
"globe de mariee" was rarely presented with interior music box,indicating a very luxury model.
Value Points: rare luxury four-sided dome,musical mechamism,and elegant symbolic interior.
