14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head with flat-cut neck socket,very narrow brown glass eyes in
squinting expression,painted curly lashes,heavily-modeled eyelids,brush-stroked and
feathered brows,shaded nostrils,closed mouth modeled as though open in crying
expression,shaded and outlined lips,sculpted tongue and beaded teeth,pierced ears,auburn
mohair wig over cork pate,French composition and wooden fully-jointed body,pretty antique
costume,undergarments,leather shoes signed with impressed star and "Paris",presented in
French box labeled "Le Petit Cherubin". Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 211 (and
artist̴s checkmarks). Comments: Emile Jumeau,the head was originally designed for Lambert
automata (see #23),but was also used by Jumeau for a series of character dolls. Value Points:
rare model with especially pleasing quality of bisque and painting enhancing the rare
character expression,
