Description
21" (53 cm.) Arranged upon an ebonzied wooden base is an extravagant arrangement of ormolu
symbols and mirrors celebrating the 19th century marriage of a French couple. Surmounted by a
pair of love birds,the arrangement is laden with oak leaves,daisies,grape clusters,roses,and other
symbols of prosperity and harmony,along with a lozenge-shaped mirrors shaped into a
star,other mirrors including an etched design at the base,and an ormolu-framed red tufted
velvet cushion upon which is presented the bride̴s coronet and bridal bouquet,each of fine wax
orange blossoms,all under a blown glass dome. Exceptionally fine original condition,of very
luxurious quality. French,circa 1885,the traditional "globe de mariee" symbolized the dreams of
the newly married pair
