Description
21" (53 cm.) closed wagon. 12̴ cage wagon. Each of wood with stenciled and lithographed
paper cover,the closed wagon is on four yellow wooden wheels with matching yellow driver̴s
seat; the back and one side hinge open at the roof for access to the caged interior and the
other side hinges open at both the center and roof for access. Inside are seven wire-fronted
cages. The sides of the wagon are decorated with lithographed-paper circus scenes,and there
is a wooden crest at the front reading "Schoenhut̴s Humpty Dumpty Circus,The Greatest
Show on Earth". The wooden cage wagon has original red paint,rubber-edged wheels,wooden
cage slats,and gold stenciled lettering "Schoenhut̴s Humpty Dumpty Circus,The Greatest
Show on Earth"; a Schoenhut tiger is inside. Fair to good condition,unrestored with original
finish,lithographed papers are stained. American,Schoenhut,early -20th century.
