18" (46 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with long-faced modeling,delicate pale bisque,blue glass enamel inset eyes,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with outlined lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists,lovely antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 2 J. M. (script letters centering distinctive symbol). Comments: Bebe Mothereau,circa 1882. Value Points: bebes by the luxury firm are rarely found; of particular rarity is this example with the mysterious J.M. markings; having lovely pale bisque,original body and body finish. $9000/14,000
