Description
8" (20 cm.) overall. 3" dolls. A rich cherry-wood box with ebony edging contains a music box with mechanical device which, when wound, causes the pair of bisque dolls posed atop the box to dance about in amusing manner. The dolls have painted facial features, bisque arms, silk costumes, mohair wigs, loosely jointed wooden legs, and are attached to the box by a thin wire dowel. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism and music function well. Marks: original musical paper label on base indicates two tunes that are played. Comments: French, circa 1880. Value Points: charming parlor toy with original paper tune label.
