28"(71 cm.) w. x 19"h. x 17"d. A sturdily-built wooden room with dove-tailed construction
and old "beer" color interior painting,has a railed-mezzanine that is accessed by a wooden
17-step railed staircase,designed for use as the wine tasting area. The floor is painted red and
ochre checkerboard pattern,and the walls are covered up to the mezzanine level with faux-
wood-grained paper,and above with decorative rich old papers. At the back of the mezzanine
are a pair of faux-doors with lithographed paper to simulate paneling. Under the mezzanine
is a built-in rack which supports three original wooden brass-strapped kegs; there are three
additional wooden kegs including one resting on a wooden wheeled cart. The winery has a
metal stove with tin fire-screen and coal hod,five early stoneware jugs,13 early pewter
pieces,and various other accessories. A an early tinplate lantern with frosted and red glass
hangs at the front. Excellent condition,some rubs to wood on railings. Mid-19th century,a
well-laden premises with rare-to-find occupational scene.
