Description
18" (46 cm.) w. x 13"h. x 15"d. opened. A wooden framed room,box-shaped when closed,hinges
open to reveal a late 19th century French school room,with natural wood finish,paper label
"Ecole",wooden teacher's desk,four pairs of double desks with benches,blackboard on frame and
dunce desk. A bisque-head,glass-eyed teacher sits at the front of the classroom,her arms
outstretched and holding rod and papers. When wound at the back,music plays and the teacher
turns her head side to side and waves arms,as though instructing. Eight bisque-head dolls sit at
their desks with slate boards and lesson plans,while the "dunce" with donkey ears sits in the
corner. Accessories include wall maps,bell,globe and abacus. Very good/excellent
condition,some wear to lithographed-paper on floor. French,circa 1890.
