3" (8 cm.) bust. 10" overall. A sculpted parian bust on bronze plinth,depicting Ludwig XVIII
according to note on back,is presented on a wooden pedestal with carved column. Ludwig XVIII
was head of Hesse-Darmstadt from 1739-1768,and,of particular note to miniaturist and
childhood antiquarians,he is remembered for his establishment of an important textile house in
that region and for his support of an orphanage. Excellent condition. Mid/late-19th century
