10" (25 cm.) l.,2 1/2"h. of connected desks and benches,Of pressed tin with original painted yellow finish on bases,and ochre/yellow finish on desk tops to simulate wood grain,the set comprises: two sets of three connecting desks and benches,with pencil indentations and faux- inkwells; teacher's desk with connecting frame for curved-back chair and having fret-work edging and painted green slanted desk top; and blackboard on hinged metal frame. Each desk set bears the Maerklin signature on the underside. Included is a bisque head teacher with sculpted hair,and 16 all-bisque dolls with glass eyes,painted features,mohair wigs,jointed limbs,and antique school children costumes,mostly factory-original. Excellent condition,the Maerklin set is in a remarkable state of preservation. Germany,circa 1900.
