Description
27" (69 cm.) w. x 16"h. x 14"d (19" at set-back).
The wooden framed room has exterior painting to
simulate stonework, and a large single room
centered by a set-back alcove with one step riser.
The windows at the side and back are leaded in the
Renaissance style with intricate detail. There are
faux-doors at either side of the alcove with rich
paneling, and a deep window sill with potted
plants. Old wall paper with ceiling border and
lithographed-paper wainscoting to simulate wood
paneling covers the walls, and the large right side
door is paneled with elaborate cornice. The
original wood floor is parquet,a six-arm silver
metal candelabra hangs from wooden rod,and there
are three pieces of attached furniture, original to
the house: cupboard with impressed-design red
panels on doors and porcelain knobs, grandfather
clock with porcelain face, and pier mirror. In
addition there is a matching trestle table, four
matching chairs (one lacking leg),and a baby
cradle. Accessories include a bronze deer head, two
bent-wood boxes with paper-mache animal mounts,a
well-laden table with pewter dishes,two steins,and
a cast iron dog. A fine early bisque doll presides
over the room, having slender face with painted
features,brunette hair,pierced ears,muslin
body, bisque lower limbs, and wearing her original
elaborate folklore costume. Excellent condition.
