19"w. (48 cm.) x 9"h. x 8"d. A wooden-framed one-room shop with angled sides and painted
front pilasters and exterior,has papered walls and floor to simulate tile and parquet,an attached
meat rack with brass rods,and the original wooden counter. More than 20 cuts of meat hang on
the wall shelves,while three other free-standing racks hold rabbits,deer,wild fowl,a pig,and
various sausages. There is a balance scale,a butcher block with cleaver,and food displays on the
counter including a rare paper-mƒch‚ pig head on card paper plate. An early wax doll with
paper-mƒch‚ stiffened costume stands in attendance,and a little paper-mƒch‚ live pig tries to
escape. Fair condition of shop with wear to paper and paint,contents very good. Germany,circa
1890.
