Description
39" (99 cm.) w. x 20"h. x 21"d. A grand-sized
wooden-framed room with strong well-carved columns
at the front sides, and a painted marbleized floor.
The painted walls are decorated with two framed
panels on each side wall, having delicately-painted
floral or nature scenes on each, and a gilded
crest. The panels are above a border of
wainscoting that extends around the entire room
and which is also decorated with smaller
panels, each having painted scene. Against the back
wall are two faux-doors with still further painted
framed panels, and each surmounted by a richly
carved pediment. Exceptional original furnishings
which match the wall decoration include a pair of
small credenza shelves,an easel with framed
painting of aristocratic lady, and a pair of small
mirrors that flank a grand three-part framed
mirror which,in turn,is hung above an exceptional
credenza table in the Louis XVI manner. A
porcelain tea service rests on the credenza along
with a candelabra,and a delicate glass-bead
chandelier hangs above. Excellent condition
throughout, the exceptional room in slightly larger
scale would be suitable for exhibition of small
poupees. Mid/late 19th century. Provenance: from
the celebrated Bodmer Collection from which it was
acquired by the Landsberg Puppenhausen Museum, and
later joined the collection of Hanne Buktas.
