Description
43" (109 cm.) w. x 16"h. x 19"d. (mezzazine room
is 19" wide if detached from portrait room and
balconies). The luxury-made dollhouse setting of
fine walnut or mahogany woods features two large
rooms,which are detachable for separate display of
the mezzanine room,if desired. There is a
two-story detachable balcony on the side with
lattice-shaped balustrades. The mezzanine room
features a full-width narrow mezzanine which is
accessible by an elaborate and finely detailed
staircase. The lower staircase has four wide steps
leading to a large landing which accesses the
balconies through an arched doorway with sliding
"pocket" door of pebbled yellow glass,or continues
via a narrower staircase against the side wall up
to the mezzanine. Brass caps decorate the end
posts of the railing. There are four columned
arches below the mezzanine forming a secluded
niche in the room,and a wooden-framed arched
doorway leads to the second room. Both rooms have
inlaid wooden floors in parquet designs,wooden
wainscoting below old wallpapers. The two arched
tall windows in the portrait room have antique
draperies and wooden curtain brackets and rods. An
ormolu chandelier hangs in each room. Two early
silhouettes on brass hang in the portrait room
along with 2 miniature paper silhouettes and a
plethora of other framed prints and portraits.
There is a brass easel,a brass portrait display
object,set of black wooden furniture with red
upholstery,and various other accessories and art
objects. Excellent condition. 19th century,the
luxury-class dollhouse is replete with wonderful
architectural details and fine craftsmanship.
