Description
39" (99 cm.) w. x 15"h. x 19"d. A wooden two-room dollhouse has rich dark exterior finish
that extends to the simple front facade,with three window frames at the back,each with three
panes,the two lower panes hinging open inwardly. The windows are richly framed with wide
sills and have original cornices and wooden drapery rods with brass clips. A richly-paneled
double door opens between the two rooms and is finished in contrasting dark and light finish.
The floors have a dark paper-lithograph to simulate parquet and there is old wall paper with
contrasting borders. A gas lamp hangs in the bedroom,and a stunning crystal and amethyst
chandelier centers the parlor. The parlor is furnished with a metallic-thread embroidered
woolen carpet,maroon velvet upholstered chairs,grand-sized floor mirror,early wooden
chest,center table,easel,dessert buffet,sewing table,Austrian glazed-ceramic stove,and
accessories including large pressed tin mirror,ormolu bird cage,candlesticks and
goblets,potted plants,brass hanging plates,and framed engravings. The bedroom is furnished
with an armoire,bed,chair,table,brass easel,a number of framed prints,two "toy" dolls in
chair,sewing basket,and a copper bed warmer along with a woolen carpet. There are four
bisque dollhouse dolls. Very good/excellent overall condition. Germany,circa 1890,the home
presents a scene of an abundant and affluent family in comfortable surroundings.
