Description
18" (46 cm.) h. x 13"w. 13"d. A room with
five-angled walls to create a dimensional effect
is stored flat when not is use,and opens to fit
inside the box shape when in play. There are two
tall windows at the side angle walls with their
original silk curtains trimmed with Dresden gilt
paper edging and forming valances. The floor has
original paper lithography to simulate tile,and
the walls are papered with a delightful and rare
vignette scenes of 18th-century ladies and
gentlemen. The room is furnished with a wooden
red-stained and rosewood-papered set with Dresden
gilt paper edging,comprising desk with intricate
niches,dressing table with mirror and drawer;
table,and six chairs and settee with original
upholstery. Four ormolu-framed prints and a large
ormolu-framed mirror hang on the walls,and further
accessories include soft-metal hanging birdcage
and fernery,ormolu clock,two painted metal
pedestals with busts,and a pretty bisque-head doll
with sculpted black hair. Excellent condition. The
set was created for the Vienna market,late-19th
century,and is remarkably preserved.
