Description
9 1/2"(24 cm.) The heavy glazed ceramic stove with incised lines to suggest tiles with raised
floral design in center of each "tile",is centered on both front and back by a large figural design
of a woman. Accent colors of cobalt blue, teal blue and mustard gold accent the pale
peach/cream background. Excellent condition. This very rare example of a 19th century Austrian
parlor stove was made, circa 1890,in Gmunden, the town in Austria noted for its ceramic
tradition. This particularly elaborate example may have been a custom creation for the dollhouse
of a wealthy family, and other similar examples are virtually unknown.
