Description
60" (152 cm.) w. x 35"h. (55"tower) x 19"d. An elongated wooden dollhouse with open front
has a peaked roof with central medallion design that rests atop a two-story house with one
grand ballroom on the upper floor and three smaller rooms below. The ballroom has a painted
design on the back wall above the double doors with inlay-wood parquet design on the
bottom section. The floor is also an elaborate wood parquet design,and there is a side door
that opens to a staircase landing to the tower. The three smaller rooms include a kitchen with
original hearth with pot hooks,and some original furnishings including a dry sink,corner
cupboard,and slate-top work table with faux-tile back. The house has a detachable tall watch
tower (the house can be displayed alone as a complete unit) with wonderful four-flight
staircase with railings and landings,leading to a guard room with two doors and balcony. The
tower facade has an ornamental pressed cardboard design at the peak and a stained glass
window at the side wall. The first floor stairwell actually forms another room that could be
used as a foyer,or a separate sitting room. The tower attaches to the house with original
hooks,Excellent condition. Mid-19th century,an intriguing model whose background is a
delightful mystery.
