Description
32" (81 cm.) w. x 16"h. x 20"d (26"d. at alcove). A grand room with set-back alcove that is
accessed by three wide-wooden stairs laid with carpet and brass carpet rods,is painted
original pale green with gold highlights,having flat pilasters at the front sides,that matches
the exuberant Art Nouveau fret-work arch that fronts the alcove; a matching fretwork bracket
extends into the room,serving as a support for the crystal and green glass chandelier with
ormolu trim. There are velvet-covered wood-framed matching window cornices that enhance
the old bordered wallpapers and carpeted floor. A built-in fireplace features a paneled mantel
and a faux-pink-marble fireplace. The furniture was with the home when acquired by Hanne
Buktas and appears original and quite unusual. Of natural finish,it is highlighted by a sofa
with luxury surround that is decorated with faux-inlaid-tiles. Also included is a hall
mirror,wide buffet,dessert buffet and cabinet with fine beveled glass doors,trestle table,round
table,and 6 chairs and a sofa with grey silk upholstery. A similar recamier and four chairs with
green silk upholstery are also included,along with a soft metal recamier,various prints,desk
lamp,and other accessories,and an Austrian glazed ceramic parlor stove in matching pale
green color gives warmth. Bisque head dollhouse lady and gentleman attend the house.
