Description
34"w. x 13"d. x 13"h. The two-room wooden framed setting features a larger room with two
windows and smaller room with one window,with a richly paneled double opening door
between the two. Each window features a transom window above hinged lower windows that
open inward at the center and are framed with sills and original cornices in the larger room.
Each window has original wooden curtain tie-back knobs and there are fancily carved columns
at the front. The rooms are decorated with original wall and floor papers,the larger room
having variant paper below the wainscoting trim. The exterior is painted original ochre and
cream with pencil striping,with architectural detail of window frames. The house is pencilled
339/1933/1/2 on the underside. The style and markings are consistent with examples from
the 1904 catalog of August Herrmann,Germany. Overall excellent and original condition,one
typical wood split on center wall. The elaborately carved wooden furnishings appear
original,and include: Gothic-style very fancy buffet,and matching smallest cabinet; upright
piano with hinged keyboard lid,trestle table; settee with lithographed paper trim and
burgundy velvet upholstery,five matching chairs; walnut carved bed; white marbletop wash
stand,matching night table and matching chest each with unusual silver soft metal hardware.
There are matching carpets in each room,and various accessories and pictures.
