3 1/2" globe on stand. 6" with cabinet. A wooden globe has paper cover with map of the world
identifying continents,seas,and various nations,and is arranged upon original wooden revolving
stand,which is attached to an early Walterhausen cabinet with stenciled trim. The globe is
labeled"The Earth,published by G.J. Klinger Nuremberg". Georg Johann Klinger was one of the
most prominent cartographers of early-20th century Germany,and after his death in 1806,his
firm continued to use his name on their globes until 1851. A rare and well-preserved miniature
globe. Germany,mid-19th century.
