Description
48"w. x 17"h. x 15"d. (20" at set-back). The wooden framed doll rooms have original cream
exterior paint with gold stencilling on the front pilasters,and feature two rooms each with
original wallpapers and paper lithographed parquet floors. The salon features a set-back
alcove with a one-step riser,and is framed by a decorative cornice and side panels with built-
in flower boxes. At the center of the alcove are 3 ten-pane windows with an unusual small
opening window in the center section. The bedroom has a large multi-paned window
arrangement on the side wall with centered small opening window. Each room has original
silk curtains and painted wooden cornices. A paneled and painted door between the two
rooms has classic Gottschalk silk knob. The salon is furnished with Gottschalk silk-
upholstered sofa with elaborate surround in mahogany finish with gold stenciling,with 2
matching chairs. There is a white wooden grand piano (maker uncertain) and two Gottschalk
white wooden rocking chairs. The bedroom furniture is a pair of luxury Gottschalk twin beds
framed by a grand surround with inset fabric panels that are printed to appear as though
tufted and a pair of night stands are attached to the surround wall. There are two matching
dressers,one with cheval mirror. The house is pencil inscribed "4836" on the underside,and
the bedroom set appeared in the Gottschalk catalog of 1908 as model "4266" (shown in
CieslikÞs Moritz Gottschalk 1892-1931,on page 120. Very good/excellent condition.
