Description
29"w. x 10"h. x 12"d. Wooden framed rooms have lithographed early paper on the exterior
with paint-grained finish to simulate rosewood on the edges. The interior comprises two
rooms,each with an arched window having six wooden panes,wooden sill,curtains and filigree
gilt metal cornices. There is parquet paper lithographed flooring in each room and early
wallpaper in both rooms. The larger room is furnished as the salon of an affluent family with a
matched set of carved Black Forest-style furnishings from the German firm of Harrass in
Bohlen. The set comprises of a rare easel with original lithograph in matching frame,round
pedestal table,sofa,two rocking chairs and two straight chairs,each with original red velvet
upholstery,dessert buffet with oval mirrored front,hall mirror,and plant stand with potted
plants. There are four framed porcelains,a beaded carpet,various milk glass and porcelain
dishes and vases,and a six-arm hanging metal candelabra. The smaller room has a small bed
by Barrass,matching mirrored front wooden armoire and marble top dresser,dressing table
with mirror. two beaded carpets,tin doll carriage,three wooden flower pots,various framed
prints,and a fine green glass hanging lamp with gilded soft metal frame. Excellent,some
paper spotting in bedroom. Germany,circa 1890. The rare set of Barrass furnishings matches
the larger set,#170 this book,and has the identical impressed Barrass signature design on the
upholstery.
