Description
7 1/2"h. canopy bed. Of a finely grained dark wood to suggest walnut,the pieces have black
ebony edging,and the upholstered pieces are covered with a fine sateen twill in patterned pale
blue with sprigs of delicate roses. The set includes a canopy bed with silk-fringed fabric curtains
and double pillows,on fancily columned base; upholstered recamier and chair each with rounded
back formed of pressed cardboard with press-carved crest; upholstered side chair; single-door
armoire; and a wash stand and pedestal table with unusual lithographed paper tops to simulate
brown marble. Excellent condition,some typical fabric fading. Germany,Waltershausen
genre,circa 1860. The round table bears an original store label on the underside "D.H.
Greenin,Fancy Repository,20 & 21 East Street,Brighton".
