Description
25"w. x 14"h. x 15"d. The wooden framed room is fronted by ornately shaped pilasters, and is
painted in original cream with bronze-green and gold accent trim. The exterior walls are
painted a darker cream with brown and tan borders. The interior features a full-width back
wall of elaborate shelving and niches with a centered mirror flanked by deeply-set windows
with beautiful etched-glass designs. Above the shelving is a mezzanine whose balusters
include urn-shaped designs. The mezzanine is accessed by a beautifully made double-curve
metal spiral staircase (possibly the work of Bing) with filigree-trim and detailed spindles. A
second attached shelving cupboard is at the side wall, and there is a matching wooden counter
that is trimmed with a very elaborate embossed brass emblem that is repeated on the back
and side-wall shelving units. The shop has original wall paper and border, lithographed paper
parquet floor (including mezzanine),and richly gilded carved ornamentation; finally, there is
rich gilt paper trim on the front of the shelves. There are two hanging mirrors,an ormolu
free-standing mirror, and some various bolts of fabric and trim. Very good/excellent
condition, some possible retouch to exterior. Germany, circa 1890,possibly Christian Hacker.
