Description
37"w. x 13"h. x 12"d. Two wooden framed rooms with simple pilaster fronts are painted
original cream and grey,and feature an unusually shaped sitting room with angled sides,a
window in one of these angles. The bedroom has a separate dressing room area that extends
as a hidden recessbehind the sitting room angle,and there is a set-back area for the bed.
There is old wallpaper and paper lithographed floors to simulate parquet flooring. The sitting
room is furnished with a painted green ensemble comprising sofa,bookcase,table,2
chairs,pedestal,fernery and large hanging clock with pendulum. Two hanging deer heads (of
soft metal or card stock) hang on the walls along with a walnut gun rack and matching
newspaper holder. There are gilded metal and silver medallion plates,5 dogs (3 are Vienna
bronze),pewter service,various other accessories and prints,and two men in hunting garb and
a dollhouse lady. The bedroom highly contrasts with the masculine atmosphere of the sitting
room. It is furnished with a dainty red-stained bedroom set with gilt-metal wreath designs
comprising a table,bed,2 chests,and a night stand,along with soft metal accessories including
dressing table,screen,sewing basket,flower stand and dangling bead chandelier. There are five
lady or children miniature dolls and a poodle,along with accessories and prints. Very
good/excellent condition. Germany,circa 1910,a charming and active vignette with interesting
architecture and themes.
