Description
28"w. x 27"h. x 21"d. The large red-roof wooden house with elaborate roof lines is three
floors and attic floor,and is painted its original ochre shade with trim in green,cream and
gold. The six interior rooms are accessed from the sides (three on each side) and each has its
original lithographed paper wall and floor papers. The exterior has shutters with painted
trim,and intricately-designed railings and trim. On one end of the house each of the three
floors has a half-circular porch,and on the other side each floor is different: a gable on the
top floor,a set-in porch on the second,and a covered porch with outside toilet room on one
side and a stairway to the second floor on the other. Each of the exterior and interior doors
has original paint and Gottschalk silver door knob. The house also has its original trellises,tin
mail box,and wooden bird house with bird,as well as a number of flowers and plants. Excellent
condition. Germany,circa 1910,from a deluxe series of large villas introduced by Moritz
Gottschalk in that year; each of the styles was designed to be played with from all four sides.
The house is pencil numbered 5614 on the underside.
