Description
27"w. x 14"h. x 14"d. A wooden-framed miniature room with dark stained interior and
exterior walls has decorative half-columns at each side,painted diamond-pattern floor to
simulate tiles,and two large framed windows at the back with possibly-original green silk and
lace curtains on brass rod. The room is richly furnished,significantly with an early sofa with
matching arm chair and three side chairs,each upholstered in original green quilted silk,edged
with gold beaded paper,the sofa and arm chair with yellow paper backing to simulate leather.
Also: early corner curio cabinet with mirrored back,green paper on shelves,and gold beaded
trim; wall curio cabinet with ebony front columns and mirrored back; two-drawer chest with
bone handles; detachable bookcase with row of faux-books; small table with green paper on
bottom shelf and mirrored back; and ormolu round table. Accessories include heavy brass
candelabra,two bone planters,porcelain plant stand with plant,two porcelain urns with
plants,needlepoint carpet,miniature dance card,two porcelain dogs,clock in glass dome,3
porcelain figures,8 lithographs or engravings depicting various historical scenes and others.
Of further note is a relief-gilded profile of Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria (1848-
1916),along with a walnut framed screen with engravings of Viennese scenes and engravings
of Emperor Franz Joseph as both young and older man. Also included are three porcelain dolls
in antique costumes. Excellent condition. Circa 1855,with original furnishings,accessories,and
dolls of the era,and intriguing Viennese historical objects including images of the Austrian
Emperor,and an 1880 miniature Viennese calendar.
