Description
18" (46 cm.) Posed upon a velvet-covered wooden base is a bisque-head doll with amber-
brown glass paperweight inset eyes,painted lashes,feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye
corners,closed mouth with accented lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,carton
torso and legs,bisque forearms. When wound,the doll turns her head from side to side,nods as
though sniffing the flowers she holds,and then fans herself. Meanwhile,music plays,"La Coeur
et la Main" according to tune label on the underside of base. Condition: generally
excellent,mechanism functions well. Marks: Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 4 (head). Comments:
Leopold Lambert with commissioned bisque head from Jumeau,circa 1890. Value Points:
impeccable original condition of the automaton and costume which comprises aqua silk and
lace dress and chapeau,silk covered fan with dangle beads,matching silk slippers,silk-covered
buttons,original Jumeau earrings.
