Description
18" (46 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered wooden platform is a bisque-head clown with
untinted complexion,character-like expression,blue glass eyes,painted brows,accented
nostrils,closed mouth with center accent line,blonde mohair wig,carton torso and legs,metal
hands,wearing red and gold silk clown costume,and holding a mandolin. When wound,the clown
turns his head side to side,strums the guitar,and "Ta Ra Ra Boum" plays,according to the tune
label on the underside. Condition: generally excellent,mechanism functions well. Comments:
French,circa 1890,with original rare character head from Simon and Halbig's1300 series. Value
Points: charming automaton with character head to match the vivacious activity,original costume
and decorated guitar,original tune label.
