22" (56 cm.) Paper mache head with highly characterized features,long pointy nose and chin,blue
glass eyes,painted features,closed mouth with devilish smile,row of teeth,white mohair
wig,carved wooden hands and lower legs. Condition: generally excellent. Comments:
French,circa 1885,the figure represents the traditionally popular theatrical character of
Polichinelle. Value Points: wonderfully preserved figure with artistic facial painting,wearing his
well-preserved original coral and blue silk costume over armature-straw body,trimmed with
lace,metallic fringe,silver bells,with matching shoes and hat,and original strings,in original box.
