To fit poupee or slim-bodied bebe about 20". The costume comprises a black wool skirt and
black silk blouse with velvet cuffs trimmed with paillettes. The basic costume is virtually hidden
beneath an explosion of vibrant and colorful beaded designs including an apron,a coin purse at
the waist,metallic fringed fichu,richly padded cape with blue velvet background embroidered
with colorful floral and geometric designs and lined with cotton print,and a silk coiffe with
beaded trim and blue velvet bead-embroidered streamers. Excellent condition. The
extraordinary detail of the costume suggests its production as a store model for people-sized
costume,or as an original costume for an exotic luxury doll. Late 19th century.
