21" (53 cm.) A bisque-head lady,posed in a regal manner with elegant posture,has blue glass
eyes,painted lashes,feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with
accented lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,bisque shoulder plate,metal
hands,shapely carton torso that merges into a full-length metal skirt-shaped form that
contains the mechanical and musical works; the lady is posed on a three-wheeled base
hidden beneath her skirt. Condition: generally excellent,music and mechanism function well.
Comments: Gustav Vichy,circa 1875. When wound,the lady elegantly glides
forward,pivots,turns,pauses and repeats,turns her head and alternately fans herself and lifts
her lorgnette to peer at the surrounding scene. Value Points: a luxury automaton designed for
haute society,with superb original costume,intricate hidden mechanism and deluxe details of
accessories including ormolu lorgnette and inlay fan.
