14" (36 cm.) doll. 18" with stand. A bisque-head doll with slender face and aquiline nose,blue
glass inset eyes,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye
corners,closed mouth with outlined lips,pierced ears,brunette human hair wig,on armor-covered
body of finely cast metal and chain link arm covering. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 1.
Comments: French,circa 1870,unknown maker,the doll represents Jeanne d'Arc,the revered
heroine of France. Value Points: very rare doll,few examples are known to exist,with portrait like
face,extraordinary costume with authentic details of armor,metal leggings and helmet,and
carrying sword in leather strap and lance,and mounted on original wooden stand.
